AI & ML in action: Demonstrating real-world impact in trial design & patient care

Jonathan is an early team member at Tempus where he currently serves as Vice President, Generative AI and Head of Tempus One, focused on search, artificial intelligence, and provider-facing tools. He has been building and delivering scaled software products across both the consumer and enterprise space for over 15 years in a number of industries including healthcare, life science, telemedicine, genomics, mobile commerce, security, human capital, and talent acquisition. 

Chris has worked in healthcare for his entire career, leveraging technological breakthroughs to improve patient outcomes. He's had global P&L roles in medical devices, lab diagnostics, and AI-enabled precision medicine. Today, Chris is an SVP & GM of the Applications P&L at Tempus AI. Before Tempus, Chris worked as VP & GM at Quest Diagnostics where he led Advanced Diagnostics businesses totaling $250M in Neurology, Genomic Sequencing, and Pharma Services. The team launched a blood-based diagnostic for early detection of Alzheimer's disease.

Somnath Sarkar, PhD, serves as the Global Head of Evidence Generation and Decision Science at Sanofi, where he plays a pivotal role in steering the direction of Global Biostatistics, Development Real World Data and Evidence (RWD/E), and Clinical Modeling and Simulation. Dr. Sarkar is a respected member of the Global Development Leadership Team. With a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Florida, Dr. Sarkar brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his position, contributing significantly to the advancement of evidence-based decision-making within the organization.

Dr. Calvin Chao is the Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs at Tempus.  Previously, Dr. Chao spent thirteen years leading studies and education for the Oncotype DX Breast, Prostate, and Colon Cancer assays at Genomic Health, later acquired by Exact Sciences.  Prior to that role, he worked in various bio-pharmaceutical medical director positions at Onyx Pharmaceuticals, PDL BioPharma, TAP Pharmaceuticals, and SmithKline Beecham. In his early career, Dr. Chao practicedas a board-certified internist and hospitalist at Kaiser Permanente in California for ten years. He earned his MD from the University of Texas Medical Branch, completed his medical residency at Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Denver, Colorado, received his MBA from St. Mary’s College, California, and his BS in Chemical Engineering from University of California, Berkeley.

Emilie Scherrer is the Senior Director and Head of Head of Strategy, HEOR at Tempus AI and is a member of the RWE Alliance. Emilie was previously the Global Director of Health Economics and Outcomes Research at Seagen. She has worked in biopharma (Amgen, Merck, Seagen, Pfizer) for a decade in roles across HEOR and RWE positions. She has extensive knowledge in designing and executing non-interventional, observational research studies for external dissemination (40+ publications) and regulatory submissions. Emilie earned an undergraduate degree from USC and a Masters in Health Economics from the London School of Economics / LSHTM.
